yup, it’s my birthday. thanks for the nice birthday wishes.

so far as birthday presents i’ve received:

a poem about tacos

some pleasant quasi-soft-core porn

a book about tea production

a vegan cassoulet (a french dish normally made from sausages and pig fat) and a lot of nice ‘happy birthday!’ emails.

later for my birthday i get to have lunch with jean michel jarre and then do a tv show in paris with scarlett johansson. i’ve known scarlett since she was 15 and i still don’t know how to spell her name. ok, i guess i’m name dropping (although is it still name dropping if i don’t know how to spell the persons name? i guess so, but it’s vaguely inept name dropping). i realized that there are actually a few pictures of scarlett in the photos part of moby.com, taken when she was but a wee lil teenager hanging out in east village rock and roll bars.

so, last year on my birthday i ate korean food and drank ‘pork slap beer’ and fell down on the sidewalk in front of the box. this year my birthday most likely won’t involved korean food and definitely won’t involve ‘pork slap beer’ and hopefully won’t involve falling down on the sidewalk. oh, and for the record, ‘pork slap beer’ is not actually made with any pig products. or so i was told before drinking it. because even the most hearty carnivore might balk at pig flavored beer, or so i’m assuming. back in my drinking days i sometimes put hot sauce in my beer because it seemed like the stupidest thing i could do at the time. actually it was pretty good, insofar as hot sauce in beer can be. now my hot sauce is purely reserved for tasty mexican food, like the aforementioned tacos that inspired the aforementioned poem.

everyone should receive a poem about tacos on their birthday. but then taco poems might not be so unique. and, for the record again, the poem was about literal tacos involving taco shells, beans, lettuce, hot sauce, and possibly seitan (wheat gluten, not the flesh of the devil).

again, thanks for all of the happy birthday wishes. really, thank you. call me self-involved or needy, but i like happy birthday wishes.
