you can tell that gw bush grew up wealthy and entitled and privileged.
he might be the executive branch version of a compulsive spender.
he’s created the largest federal government in the history of the united states.
he cuts taxes for the super-rich while starting new programs and giving trillions away in corporate welfare.
and now he wants the national guard to patrol our border with mexico.
this might lead you to think 2 things:
1-that the national guard have nothing better to do(well, most of them are in iraq, actually)
and
2-that mexico is our enemby(well, they’re actually one of our closest allies).
so why are we sending an already egregiously over-extended national guard to patrol our border with one of our closest allies?
easy: cos gw bush is desperate to do something to make at least someone like him.
in this case the ‘someone’ is the extreme-right, who are basically one step away from being white supremacists.
so, to be clear:
a-our country was founded by and for immigrants
b-our national guard are over-extended
c-mexico is an ally of ours d-most republicans think that bush is an idiot and that this is a bad idea e-without immigration, legal and illegal, our country’s economy would pretty much grind to a halt
this is just pandering and posturing on bush’s part, and it, like almost everything he does these days, will backfire and drive his poll numbers even lower.
ok, maybe i’ll take a break from writing about politics and write about something more fun next time.
