everytime i read about what happened to matthew sheppard it makes me very, very sad. what is wrong with us? it’s a simple question, and one that’s been asked millions of times, but how can human beings be so willfully sadistic and malicious towards one another?
how can we try to make sure that what happened to matthew sheppard will never happen to anyone ever again?
i’m sometimes so ashamed at what we as humans are capable of doing.
i know that these are naive sentiments, but they’re very relevant.
what if every person on the face of the earth signed something like:
i _______(undersigned)____ will never in the course of my life violently force my will onto another person. i recognize that cruelty and the willful infliction of suffering are anaethma to the positive development of humanity.
something like that.
