ok, i mean seriously, what the hell?
when did i move to finland?
or, rather, when did finland move to nyc?
the temperature almost never gets above 15 degrees fahrenheit(minus 10 celsius)and it’s supposed to snow tomorrow and we’ve already had more snow this winter than the entire time i was in high school.
i was walking down the street tonight and a friend and i were commenting on how it didn’t seem all that cold and it was 19 degrees fahrenheit.
it didn’t seem all that cold cos we’ve grown so accustomed to 5 degrees fahrenheit(with our old friend mr. wind chill pushing it down to -20).
laugh at us, go ahead, laugh.
if you grew up in north dakota you know what i’m talking about, cold-wise.
but we’re new yorkers. volvo driving liberals. thin-skinned, npr listening pinkos. we’re not accustomed to breathing liquid oxygen and having our faces fall off because of wind chill.
well, enough of my whining, cos the truth is that i actually really like the cold.
i was just whining for comedic effect(ha. uh, ha?).
i like cold cos i’m prepared. i have my thermal socks and my ems long-johns and my polar fleece and my polar expedition mittens and my etc and so on.
i go out and mock the cold. and it feels good to mock.
on a side note, i had seitan and tofu with lemongrass and green peppers for dinner tonight and it was great.
there, food and weather. the circle is complete.
