we just finished the 5 (or 6?) days of recording for the acoustic/orchestral album i’m hoping to make. we recorded about 30 songs, in total. a few older songs, but mainly new songs. now i have to take a week or so to listen to what we recorded and try to figure out:
1 if the songs are any good
2 if anyone else apart from me would actually like them
3 if putting out an acoustic/orchestral album will alienate the few remaining people who are willing to listen to my records
4 what else needs to be done to actually finish the songs
i might sound self-deprecating, but i really like the music we’ve recorded in the last week, and i especially like trying to make a record in a way that i’ve never done before.
the studio we were working in was all made out of wood (like the worlds largest sauna), and none of the technology in the studio (apart from a computer) was made after 1980. it wouldn’t be the best studio in which to make a hip-hop or techno record, but it’s a perfect place for recording pianos and violins and acoustic guitars.
oh, here are some pictures i took randomly in (and around) the studio yesterday:

walking to the studio.

at the studio.

walking home.

still walking home.
