Journal / Washington DC

last night while performing in dc i talked about the need for washington dc to become a state.
i’ve talked about it before, but it seems like a particularly relevant issue today, as today is ‘tax-day’.
and, correct me if i’m wrong, but wasn’t one of the rallying cries of the founding fathers ‘no taxation without representation’?
isn’t it ironic(sadly, so)that the 800,000 citizens of our nations capital have no representation in the senate?
they pay taxes. they support the country. but they don’t have senatorial representation.
the time has finally come for the inhabitants of washington d.c to rise up and demand state-hood for themselves, so that they’ll no longer be un-represented 2nd class citizens.
