i sent this to a republican friend of mine and i wanted to share it with you:
i’m not intolerant, actually, i just have this naive longing for politicians who are bright, consistent and aware.
and that’s why i loathe bush.
cos he’s:
a-dim
b-short sighted
c-narrow minded
d-uninterested in the complexities of geo-political realities
e-easily swayed by unethical people/interests
f-etc.
i’m not a democrat, by the way.
i’m a pragmatist.
and the republicans are less pragmatic than the democrats at present, that’s why i don’t support republicans.
a-republicans claim to loathe big government but under bush the federal government is the largest it’s ever been.
b-the republicans claim to be fiscally responsible but under bush the deficit is the largest it’s ever been.
c-the republicans claim to understand foreign relations, but the bush administration have screwed up everything they’ve done regarding foreign relations through their hubris and ineptitude.
i’m not interested in tribal ‘us vs. them’ politics.
i’m interested in politics that are fair and decent, and politicians who are bright, pragmatic, aware, experienced, and decent. and i firmly believe, based on his record so far, that bush is none of those things.
i would be happy to support republicans if they practiced fiscal responsibility and social liberalism and enlightened foreign relations.
