Journal / Walk In The Park

today i went for a walk in central park to look at trees and people and to breathe some moderately clean air.
and as i was watching two 5 year old girls playing tag in the grass while a man and his son played catch nearby i was struck by the thought, ‘this what the fundamentalist terrorists are trying to destroy?’
i don’t know how anyone intent on the destruction of the united states could take a walk through central park on a sunny day and say that people spending time with their families and loved ones is evil and needs to be eradicated.
how dare they. how dare the terrorists impose their violent will on people who are just trying to get by? the evil of the terrorists chills me to my core. in the park today i saw people from every country and ethnicity (including a lot of muslims) just enjoying themselves.
sitting and talking. playing games. laughing. lying in the sun. playing with their dogs. reading books. playing guitar. what sort of pathologically sick person could say that what these people were doing was evil? it was beautiful. it was the human condition in all of its glory.

people at peace enjoying each other and the beauty of gods creation.
democracy and freedom are wonderful things. people sitting in the park breathing clean air and laughing with their families is a wonderful thing.
fathers in the waiting room of a dentist office waiting while their children get their teeth examined is a wonderful thing.
a boy and a girl flirting in history class is a wonderful thing.
college kids watching the simpsons together is a wonderful thing. our world is full of wonder and beauty and i’m distraught that there are people on this planet who feel that it is their duty to hurt the innocent and destroy our way of life.
forgive my presumption, but i do not think that god would look too kindly upon people who cause pain and suffering and try to destroy life and beauty and creation.
