as many of you might know by now, there’s an organization called ‘vote for change’ that is organizing swing state concerts with bruce springsteen, pearl jam, the dixie chicks, rem, death cab for cutie, dave matthews band, and many others.
all of the proceeds are going to act(america coming together, a remarkable ‘get out the vote’ organization)and it’s being sponsored by moveon-pac. it goes without saying, but this is an unprecedented and remarkable concert tour. to have artists of this caliber(bruce springsteen? pearl jam? r.e.m? dave matthews band?)touring in opposition to the bush administration and giving all of their proceeds to support ‘regime change’ in the next election is groundbreaking and phenomenal.
it does beg the question for bush supporters…when bush’s former head of counter terrorism and countless diplomats and military leaders(not to mention a myriad of musicians and entertainers and politicians) voice their strongly held belief that the country is being profoundly misled by the bush administration, well, shouldn’t you listen?
doesn’t it transcend traditional party loyalty when countless numbers of former republicans voice their dismay at the way in which the bush administration have:
1-created the largest federal deficit in the history of the u.s.
2-waged a war based on patently false precepts
3-alienated all of our allies
4-drafted profoundly destructive environmental legislation
5-presided over a net loss of 2 million american jobs?
please, put aside your party loyalties and take a minute to think about what the bush administration have done during their time in office.
thanks
