i just wanted to take a minute to recap some of the ways in which president bush and the extreme right are ruining the united states, ok?
ok, good, here goes:
1-the war. iraq is degenerating into civil war. 14,000 iraqi civilians have been
killed in 2006 alone. the u.s is spending one billion dollars a week to keep our
troops there. and no progress is being made whatsoever. it’s the biggest foreign policy disaster in the history of the united states. and while we’re stuck in iraq, north korea
and iran are developing long range nuclear weapons. and because we’re stuck in iraq we don’t have the money or military strength to provide any sort of significant deterrent to north korea and iran.
we invaded a country with no weapons of mass destruction while we ignored the countries that actually have weapons of mass destruction.
2-stem cell research. most scientists believe that stem cell research has the potential to
cure or better understand hundreds of pernicious diseases. the senate today passed a bill in support of stem cell research. president bush has promised to veto it.
stem cells and the embryo’s from which they’re derived will be thrown into the garbage if they’re not used for research. but president bush feels that it’s more important to protect the rights of garbage bound embryo’s than to the rights of real people.
3-alternative energy. we are, at present, paying more for energy than at any time in the last 100 years. and our oil and natural gas tends to come from countries run by despotic regimes with ties to terrorism and human rights abuse. the bush administration are doing nothing to develop alternative energy sources, in fact they’re giving hundreds of billions of dollars in subsidies and tax breaks to the oil companies who are at present all making record profits.
4-with iraq degenerating into civil war, north korea testing long range ballistic missiles, iran developing nuclear weapons, israel at war with lebanon, gas prices at an all time high, etc, what are the republicans spending their time on? trying to pass legislation banning gay marriage and flag burning. oh, and giving themselves pay increases.
we are being ruled by dangerous,inept, idiots. my only hope is that the mid-term elections will re-introduce some sanity into the house and senate, and thus check the dangerous ineptitude of the bush administration.
