Journal / Tough As A Furby

so, just for fun my friend damian (the world famous painter…he appreciates shout outs and i know that he reads this, so there you go) and i were reading some of the disparaging things that people have written about us in the on-line world.
and maybe this is wrong of me, but some of the nasty things that have been written about me are really funny. i probably should’ve been offended, but i just started laughing.
and not the ‘oh, i don’t care that these strangers hate me’ laughter.
but the ‘wow, these people who hate me are occasionally pretty funny’ laughter.

obviously i wish that people didn’t hate me, but at least some of the people who hate me make an effort to be funny when they dis me.
and shouldn’t we all make an effort to make our complaints more entertaining?
there are few things more tedious than a pedestrian, leaden complaint (i know, cos i’m often pedestrian and leaden). but a well phrased, witty and concise complaint can be funny and delightful. who wrote ‘brevity is the soul of wit’? was it s.j perlman? s.j perlman was a funny, funny man. and i doubt that he wrote ‘brevity is the soul of wit’. but he was very funny. and a good and entertaining complainer.

ok, i’m going to go and see what other nasty things people have to say about me. it’s kind of educational, and i only get offended when people question my punk rock cred…(i’ve got the scars to prove that i was there, motherfucker. in the pit. hard to the core. ok, i got the scar at an all ages disco in a church. but it was fun to talk tough for a second there. who am i kidding? i’m about as tough as a furby.)
