Journal / Time For Telescope

so why did i go to italy for one day?
well, it was two days, actually.
i went to play a concert in bassano. the last concert of the 18 month long 18 tour. so that’s why i went to italy.
but now i’m back. back in the nyc.
looking at mars and the full moon through my binoculars. i don’t think that’s how ‘binoculars’ is spelled. i need a telescope. the moon looks pretty cool through misspelled binoculars, but mars just looks like a jittery speck of a planet.
so maybe tomorrow i’ll go and get a telescope.
yes, that’s what i’ll do.
what kind of telescope?
a fancy one, probably. i don’t need fancy clothes or fancy cars, but if you’re going to buy a telescope you might as well get a good one. and soon, cos mars isn’t going to be brightly hanging around in the sky forever.
what i love most about looking at things through a telescope is that somehow bringing them closer makes them seem real. when i first saw the moon through a telescope it took my breath away, cos i realized that the moon was real. that it was lifeless and airless and just sitting there and it was real.
if you’ve seen the moon through a telescope maybe you’ve had a similar experience.

ok, back from italy, the tour is over, and it’s time to get a telescope.
