you know what makes me happy?
when people really like ’18’.
cos there are a lot of people who have chosen to not like ’18’. which i understand. moderately succesful underground musician (aka-me) makes a new record, so of course people are going to try to dislike it. that’s the way that the world works.
a lot of people get more pleasure out of disliking things than out of liking things.
as i said, that’s just the way that things are.but seeing as it’s so easy to dislike me at this point in time, it makes me really, really happy when people actually listen to ’18’. cos, as i’ve said, i love this record (18). and it makes me very happy when people can listen to 18 withoutprejudice.
when people can listen to 18 as a collection of songs, without all of this public-figure/cultural-baggage.
i love the fact that 18 has, in it’s own idiosyncratic way, become kind of an underground record again. let the hype pass, and let the opinions pass, too. and then i hope that people listen to 18 and judge it for what it is, and notfor all of the hype and cultural baggage that’s attached to it.
i love 18. well, duh, of course i do.
i mean, i made it.
