Journal / The Heat Is On

i’m a very lucky man. oh, why, you ask? i’m lucky cos i’m going to a dinner party on a rooftop.
i love my city. sitting on a rooftop watching the sun set while eating nice food and it’s warm and sultry.
for some reason i’m really besotted with the summer heat in nyc right now.
i was at a party last night and it was very crowded and very hot and everyone was complaining about the heat and i honestly wished it could’ve been a little bit hotter.
i love it. the heat, that is.
it being the heat.
you only hate the heat when you try to fight it. once you sort of give up fighting the heat it can become a very comfortable companion. and fighting the summer heat in nyc is kind of pointless. cos the heat is everywhere and it’s ubiquitous and all pervasive. it’s in the tarmac and the bricks and in peoples clothes and in the subway tunnels.

the song ‘harbour’ on 18 is completely inspired by the insane heat that you get in nyc in the summertime.
ok, bye for now.
