Journal / The Dark

one of the odd things about being upstate in the woods for a while is that when it gets dark here it gets dark.
i’ve spent the last 15 years living in nyc, and when night falls in nyc it doesn’t get dark, necessarily, it just gets less light.
night in the city isn’t dark, it’s just lit differently.
but here in the country…ah boy, it’s dark.
you can see all of the stars.
ok, not all of them. but a lot of them.
and your body clock starts to change and your body starts saying things to you like, ‘it’s 7pm, isn’t it time to go to sleep?’
so it’s 11:30 up here in the woods, and my body clock wants me to hibernate.
so i’m going to go up on the roof and look at the stars and then sleep until the sun comes up.
g’night.
