ok, on friday night i had one of the most remarkable meals of my entire life. and please keep in mind that i’ve eaten a lot over the last 3 decades. so on friday night my friend rocco dispirito invited a bunch of people to the restaurant where he cooks(union pacific) to test some vegan food on us. he’s not normally a vegan chef, but on friday he wanted to see what he could do with vegan food. oh my goodness, it was terrific. 7 courses, each with their own specific wine. the highlight for me was zucchini flowers with what seemed to be a sort of cilantro/lime reduction. but the whole meal was amazing. i know i sound like a sycophantic foodie, but when someone who is genuinely, genuinely gifted with food prepares you a 7 (or 8, i can’t remember) course meal you can’t help but gush and wax enthusiastic. and the desert was a sort of warm dark chocolate wrapped in a vegan phyllo dough with mango sorbet. at least that’s what i remember. it was phenomenal. sorry to gloat, but i love being a bourgeoisie, urban vegan.
thanks,
moby
