but i wanted to say thank you to all of the people who came out to see us(and by ‘us’ i of course mean laura, daron, scott, luci, and myself)play. thank you all for making this a wonderful north american tour.

and thank you for all of the comments and reviews of the live show on ‘moby experiences’.

touring is tiring and at times quite grueling, so reading these nice reviews and comments really makes the long hours and lack of sleep a lot easier to bear!

thanks!

Journal / Thank You

last summer i met up with eli pariser from moveon and laura dawn and jonathan soros and we came up with the idea for the ‘bushin30seconds’ ad contest.
and in so doing we had hoped that we’d receive maybe 200 or 300 ads. and now we’ver received roughly 2,000 ads.
and as of saturday, as i’m writing this, we’ve had over 500,000 votes cast on the ads that are up and running.
so i just wanted to say thank you to the people who worked on and submitted ads, and also a big thank you to the people who’ve made the effort to log on and vote for the ads.
and another big thank you, of course, to eli and the people at moveon and laura dawn and jonathan soros and lee solomon.
thanks,

thank you for all of the birthday wishes.
they mean a lot to me, even if today is a day of remembrance and reflection for the people who were killed on september 11th, 2001.
thank you very much, everybody.

i’ve said it before, but i’ll say it again…reading your posts on the boards really means a lot to me, especially now.
so, thank you.

not to be sycophantic, but i really do appreciate the fact that so many of you choose to spend time here.
for all of its quirks and idiosyncracies, the moby-online community is really special.
so, thank you.

you know, if i were going to try to make a compelling case for the benevolence of humanity i would possibly use the moby-online boards as an example. these boards are esentially anarchy. there are no rules, really. people are free to write whatever they choose to write, and express themselves however they feel compelled to express themselves here.

and yet the vast majority of postings are very benign and very kind, as far as i can tell. certainly things do get contentious on occasion, but for the most part the postings are civil and kind.

and that’s a very good thing, in my honest opinion. ultimately i think that one of the most hopeful things that can be said about human beings is that we seem to like kindness and decency more than cruelty and strife. maybe i’m naive, but i do hold out hope that even some of the nastier people in the world would ultimately prefer a world of civility and respect to a world of bitterness and cruelty.

i’m proud of this simple, little web-site and the community that seems to have formed around it. from my limited reading of the boards i have to say that you all seem like bright and decent people. thank you.
