i know that everyone’s worried about further terrorist attacks on the west, but at the same time i think that it’s important not to get bogged down by fear and worry. for a start, waging bio or chemical warfare is really difficult. making the stuff is hard. transporting it is hard. and dispersing it is hard. that’s not to say that some sick terrorist won’t try to use biological or chemical weapons to hurt people, but the chances of them being effective are pretty slim, at least based upon what i’ve read about the issue.
the two things that concern me more right now are the chances of an aircraft being hijacked outside of the united states and crashed for destructive purposes here, and the idea of someone bringing a boat into the harbor of a major metropolitan area and doing something destructive with explosives. but with the united states on full alert i do think that we can all worry just a little bit less. and i’m hoping and assuming that other western countries are being as vigilant as we are here. but the biological and chemical warfare fears are, hopefully, fairly groundless. but we’ll see, for these terrorists seem to have no concern or respect for the lives of innocent people.
their treatment of their own people is proof of that, for if the terrorists were genuinely concerned about the welfare of their fellow muslims do you really think that they would sit idly by while hundreds of thousands of their fellow muslims die of malnutrition and starvation? the terrorists are interested in two things: restricting peoples freedoms and spreading hatred and death. their actions over the years have repeatedly proven this. i’m not a fan of war. it makes me grieviously sad. but these terrorists are twisted lunatics who are bent on our destruction and the destruction of our way of life. i’m not in any way advocating or justifying war. but i really do hope that there’s a sane and effective resolution to all of this.
and i hope that wisdom somehow prevails.
