i’m going to start a support group for people in the northeast who’ve had to deal with crappy weather for such a long time.
i was in teany on friday night (yes, playing scrabble, lost one game, won another) and some guy just started yelling to his friends, ‘it’s the end of may and it’s cold and raining! this sucks!’
at first we were going to ask him to keep it down but then we realized that he was giving voice to a sentiment felt by all new yorkers (and people who live in the northeast).
the weather here sucks. it’s almost june and it’s cold and it’s rainy and it sucks. the only nice aspect of crummy weather is that it enables us to do cozy autumnal things that we wouldn’t be able to do if it was hot and sunny outside.
i don’t expect sympathy from anyone, especially not people in northern europe where they routinely have entire summers like this (i’ll always remember my first uk festival experience. it was july and it was pissing down with rain and freezing cold.).
ok, that’s it. no serious complaints. just a general expression of support and solidarity for my fellow northeasters who are collectively suffering through the cold and the rain when they should be gamboling around in the sunshine like a bunch of little rabbits.
