mike offerosky sent me an email with the following suggestion, and i thought that i would pass it on…
when you receive an annoying call from a tele-marketer just say
‘hold on, please’
and put the phone down for 5 minutes and go and do something else.
if everyone who received a telemarketer call did this it’s safe to say that telemarketing would cease to exist in about 2 days.
and here’s an idea that someone sent to me about how to stop unsolicited mailings…if someone sends you an unsolicited mailing with an envelope with a ‘postage paid’ stamp, just send them a big box full of junk mail and other heavy stuff that you can find, and let them pay for it with the ‘postage paid’ stamp.
just some ideas to make the world less annoying.
my apologies to tele-marketers and unsolicited mail companies, but you have to know that your business practices are very annoying, so you can’t get too upset when people respond to annoying business practices with some annoying practices of their own.
