Journal / State Of The Union Address

if bush didn’t have such a history of deceiving the american people i actually would’ve found a lot of merit in many of the points that he addressed in the state of the union address.
for example:
1-‘no child left behind’ is a fairly decent program. too bad bush has actually cut funding to education in the 3 years he’s been in office.
2-respecting the men and women in the armed forces.
the men and women in our military definitely deserve our respect and support. too bad george bush has cut veterans benefits and hasn’t visited the families of any of the soldiers who’ve died in iraq.
3-fighting terrorism with a broad-based, international coalition. great idea. too bad george bush has alienated almost all of our allies.
4-a tax cut for working families and parents. good idea.
too bad george bush’s tax cuts have forced state and local legislatures to raise taxes to pay for federal tax giveaways and increased spending.

i think that the thing that offended me most about bush’s state of the union address was the complete disregard for any notion of fiscal prudence or responsibility.
and that makes me doubly proud of ‘childs pay’, the winning bushin30seconds ad that aired after the state of the union address last night.
the tag line of ‘childs pay’:
“”who’s going to pay for president bush’s 4 trillion dollar deficit?””
seemed particularly germaine after bush’s fiscally imprudent state of the union address. all that bush did was talk about giving money away. cutting taxes is great, but a tax cut is only a tax cut if it’s complemented by a cut in spending.
the bush administration aren’t even republicans anymore, cos traditional republicans believed in small government and low taxes.
bush, on the other hand, and based on his state of the union address, believes in tax cuts and corporate welfare and huge government expenditures.
who’s going to pay for all of this?
the federal deficit is already at an all time high, and with bush’s spending free-for-all it’s just going to get bigger.
it’s amazing that bush took the biggest surplus in the history of the u.s(under bill clinton)and turned it into the bigggest deficit in the history of the u.s.
and it’s a shame that the american people don’t recognize that the consequences of bush’s fiscal irresponsibility will be far-reaching and long lasting and will effect our children for generations to come.
