ok, even though i’ve written a couple of thousand journal entries i’ve yet to write about one thing. sports.
or ‘sport’ as they say in the uk.
so now i would like to, sort of, write about sports (sport).
as a new yorker i’m, of course, happy that the yankees are going to the world series.
but there’s also a part of me that wishes that boston were going instead. because boston never gets to go.
and that does seem profoundly unfair.
so, as a new yorker, i’m expressing my condolences to boston for not going to the world series.
i was at a party the other night and the playoffs were on, and even though the party was in manhattan most of the people were actually hoping the red sox would win. not out of disloyalty to new york, but out of an innate sense of fairness.
so, that’s it. my first ever sport related journal entry.
to all of the depressed people in boston this morning, and on behalf of at least a few other loyal new yorkers, i’m sorry that the red sox aren’t going to the world series.
