Journal / Sorry

sorry sorry sorry.
i know i’ve been remiss in my updates for the last 2 days.
i’m sorry. mea culpa.
i’ve been very busy here in sunny l.a. friday night, for example, i partook in the strangest celebrity cover-band that has ever existed. here was the line-up:
matt sorum and slash from guns and roses.
dave navarro from janes addiction.
robbie williams from robbie williams.
the two billy’s from the cult.
donovan leitch.
johnny fayva.
me.
and a couple of other people.
it was really fun.
i did ‘whole lotta love’ and ‘gimme shelter’, but the highlight of the night for me was robbie williams singing ‘fat bottomed girls’ with slash playing guitar.
ah, only in l.a.
and when it was over robbie went home to watch the footie, and i went out to an after-party until late.
rock and roll. a nice place to visit, but i wouldn’t want to live there. i couldn’t live there. i don’t have the physical or mental fortitude to live in the land of rock and roll. and i go home to nyc tomorrow, god willing.
home. to my hot and un-air-conditioned apartment. home to sleeping naked and wondering why i don’t invest in a/c for my apartment. home to home. i’m looking forward to it.
i might even see some of these movies that seem to be so popular with the young people.
‘the star wars’ ‘the scooby doo’ ‘the spidermen’ etc.

and today was the kroq weenie roast. again, a nice day in the sun. although i always feel kind of guilty subjecting the rock kids to ‘porcelain’ or ‘we are all made of stars’ when the kids are there to see the heavy rock. ah well, apart from some technical problems i had a nice time.
and i saw rob zombie. i remember way back in the day he used to work in a copy shop with my friend john. and i remember john saying ‘oh, rob’s band white zombie are playing at the lismar lounge, you should come and see them.’ this was in 1984, i believe, and the lismar lounge maybe held 100 people.
it was quite small. underneath a restaurant, if memory serves. you would be surprised just how nice so many rockstars are. at least that’s been my experience. and yes, it’s late and i’m dusty from irvine meadows and i should shower and tuck myself into bed.
goodnight.
