oh boy, the world is just full of bad news, so rather than actually address any of the news issues that we’re all worried about i thought that i’d write about a few nice things.
1-anya’s awake. that’s great. and the level of concern and support from the boards has been profoundly touching. thanks everybody.
2-i just received a photoshopped picture of osama bin laden as ali g and it made me laugh out loud. ‘is it coz i is taliban?’
3-today i’m going to see a screening of a movie about joy division.
4-it’s another absolutely beautiful fall day here. in fact, i could go on and on listing good things, but then i would sound even more like a new age crackpot (which i’m not, thank you very much).
i guess that my point is that it’s too easy to get sidelined by the bad things and not recognize that the majority of things that fill our lives are quite good.
friends and food and music and sex and movies and books and family and dogs and swimming and etc and etc.
i would never want to downplay the suffering of others, but i do believe that focussing too much on other peoples problems can become unhealthy.
trying to help other people with their problems is, of course, healthy. but focussing on the worlds problems to the detriment of your own well-being doesn’t seem healthy at all.
at least that’s my opinion. and that’s why i’m going to look at dogs today. i know for a fact that my life would be extended by at least 5 years if i spent an hour a day running around with a pack of jack russel puppies. all the anti-oxidants in the world couldn’t help your health as much as being covered in puppy drool once a day.
