on july 4th president bush did an interview for ‘stars and stripes’ magazine.
when asked if he had ever attended a funeral for a soldier killed in iraq his
honest and candid answer was ‘no’.
i need to editorialize, his answer is honest, candid, and sad.
he started a war based on lies.
thousands of troops have been killed.
and he can’t bring himself to attend even one soldiers funeral.
i see lots of people with ‘support the troops’ posters and bumper stickers.
from my perspective the way in which we can best support the troops is to bring them home and take them out of harms way.
this war is a tragic and depressing fiasco. we should leave advisors in iraq and bring the majority of the troops home. that’s not ‘cutting and running’, that’s wisely judging the situation in iraq for what it is, a quagmire that will only resolve itself diplomatically when the majority of u.s troops leave iraq.
