ok, meteorological question answered.
now for the next question…what is that terrible smell? call me naive, but are there still fires burning at ground zero? is it smoke? or is the awful smell just coming from the smoldering ruins? or is the smell the product of the removal and demo work that they’re doing down there? i was at 27th street and 6th avenue today and the smell was strong even up there. needless to say, the smell in my neighborhood is excruciating. i really had thought that the smell would have disappeared by now.

does anyone know what the smell is the product of?
