Journal / Simple Success Story

you wanna hear a nice, simple, success story?
a year, or so, ago my friends fancy and matt decided to start a band. so they found 3 high school girls from brooklyn/queens and began writing fun old-school hip-hop with them.
they got a deal with tommy boy records and set about recording the album (in fancy’s bedroom, i think).
they finished the album and, as is usually the case, the label brought the first single to radio to see if radio would like it and, hopefully, play it.
the single was called ‘cameltoe’ and radio loved it.
and loves it.
and it’s a big, huge hit.
which is great, because fancy and matt are very nice guys and they’ve made a really good old-school hip-hop record.
hooray for fannypack.
although given the name (‘fanny’ has very different meanings in the states and the uk…) i’ll be curious to see how the record does in the uk.
so that’s a nice, simple success story.
i’m gonna go for a bike ride now.
have a nice weekend.
