well, it’s saturday night and we just finished our rehearsals for the olympics closing ceremonies. boy is it complicated.
i’m performing an 8 minute piece after they extinguish the torch, and then a song with angie stone during the concert, and then a version of bodyrock after the fireworks.
and all to an audience of 3 billion people. i hope i don’t suck. it would suck to end up sucking in front of 3 billion people.
but most likely by the time that you read this the verdict will be in.
cos it’s late saturday and i doubt that this update will be posted before sunday evening.
i hope i don’t suck on sunday. like i said, that would suck.
now i’m thinking about how many times i can use ‘suck’ in a sentence. probably a lot. something to be explored in future updates.
i went to slc’s only vegan restaurant (or so i was told), called sage’s.
it was really nice. i had this vegan pizza with fake sausage that was very tasty. the homemade ginger ale was too sweet. well, for me at least. i’m tempted to wear a ‘hey dick! tell the g.a.o!’ tshirt when i perform at the olympics. cos apparently dick cheney’s going to be in the audience.
but i wonder…it might be too cold. and do i really want to incur the wrath of an ex-oilman? they play dirty, i imagine. the cold really is a factor. trying to perform when it’s way below freezing is tricky. you lose the feeling in your fingers and it’s quite painful. that sounds like an oxymoron, right?
how can it be painful if you lose the feeling? well, you lose 90% of the feeling and the other remaining 10% is very painful. ok?
and i’m glad that you guys seem to like ‘senor moby’s house of music’. i like it a lot. and i love the fact that mtv and mtv2 let me play such obscure stuff, like liquid liquid and unkle. on upcoming shows i get to play clinic and the hives and air and basement jaxx and pulp and etc. and maybe even some american bands at some point…it does seem pretty heavily weighted towards the uk. which is good. and maybe there’s a lesson for us yanqui’s to learn from the fact that so much interesting and compelling stuff seems to be coming out of the u.k. i mean i’d certainly rather watch a low budget clinic video than some big 4 million dollar boy-band monstrosity. although a 4 million dollar boy-band video is probably not without it’s merits. or maybe i’m just stretching the parameters of diplomacy.
in any case, i hope i don’t end up sucking on sunday night.
ok, goodnight.
