schadenfreude.
that’s the word, right?
shameful joy?
like when ken lay gets convicted on all counts for his lying to, well, just about everyone, when he was the ceo of enron?
one of my favorite gw bush lies was when gw claimed to not know ken lay.
even though gw bush used the enron corporate jet to travel around america in 2000 on the campaign trail.
even though gw bush once called ken lay ‘my good buddy ken lay’ in front of a baseball stadium filled with people.
even thought the bush family and ken lay have been friends and business acquaintances for decades.
the crumbling of the bush administration and the republican empire is so comprehensive and so complete that it’s almost not satisfying, if that makes any sense.
well, it’s also unsatisfying in that the prime villians(bush, cheney, rumsfeld, rove, etc) are still at large and, for the time being, unindicted and unimpeached.
but who’s gone down…
ken lay
abramof
tom delay
trent lott
newt gingrich
scooter libby
etc
etc.
and now bill frist and dennis hastert are being investigated.
the republican leadership is an utterly corrupt house of cards.
so maybe ‘schadenfreude’ isn’t the right word.
what’s the german word for ‘righteous and justified joy’?
