Journal / rock-and-roll karaoke

every now and then i go to rock-and-roll karaoke at arlene’s grocery(right around the corner from teany)on monday nights, and i have to say that it’s fantastic.
it’s karaoke with a live band(who seem to know note perfect versions of every rock song ever written)and different people get up and sing(thus the karaoke part…).
and some of the singers are amazing. my friend rene (who sang with me in chicago and milwaukee)has sung a couple of times. and tonight i heard utterly flawless and inspired versions of ‘welcome to the jungle’ and ‘piece of my heart’.
i guess now we just have to hold out hope that nyu won’t buy arlene’s and turn it into dorms…
