have i mentioned how similar being on tour is to ‘groundhog day’?
every day:
wake up at noon in parking lot next to hotel. stumble into hotel.
check emails and look at on-line news.
do interviews.
bathe.
go to concert venue.
do soundcheck.
walk around venue to get a feel for the lay of the land.
eat dinner.
watch ‘azure ray’ and ‘dirty vegas’.
throw things at pablo.
play concert.
meet a few people and sign a few autographs. get on bus.
begin drive to next city.
try to sleep while bouncing over shitty roads.
lather, rinse, repeat.
luckily it’s a benign ‘groundhog day’, in that i enjoy almost all of the little things that fill my repetitive schedule.
the best part of the day is, of course, playing live.
and being a musician on tour is a fairly easy job, especially as opposed to being a member of the crew on tour.
crew-members work about 500 times harder than the musicians do while on tour.
so i’m never allowed to complain if i’m tired or cranky, cos 90% of the people on our tour work so much harder than i do. they’re allowed to complain if they’re tired and/or cranky, cos they work so hard. i’m not allowed to complain, because, by comparison, i’m a little primadonna.
i just watched ‘ice age’ on the hotel in room movie thingy. not a great movie, but john lequiziamo is my hero.
ok, goodnight.
