oh no, i’m going to rant…
and it’s a rant that everyone’s heard a million times, but i still feel compelled to rant.
have you noticed (or course you have, everyone has) that in our brave new world of hi-tech consumerism that when a company is selling you something they’re your best friend and they make it seem as if nothing could be simpler than buying and using their product, but when the aforementioned product (or service…oh, i dread that word) doesn’t work as promised that the company is absolutely no help at all?
i’ve got a problem with earthlink, and try as i might i can’t get them to help me.
when i go to their web-site i see that they’re offering a lot of new and expensive services, but there’s nothing that could help me with my problem (which is their problem actually, seeing as it’s a technical glitch with their server). and it’s certainly not just earthlink. every hi-tech problem that i’ve ever had has been almost impossible to bring to the attention of the company responsible for it.
computers, for example. they’re wonderful when they work, nice graphic user interfaces and all, but then something goes wrong and you get a stern message like ‘error 46,-7890’. and, of course, there’s no index of errors, so you have no idea what’s going on.
can we just boycott everybody?
ugh.
sorry to rant, i know that there are more important things going on in the world than my technical problems, but it’s still frustrating.
thanks for listening,
moby
