Journal / Race Car Tracks And Wacky Packs

today we’re playing at a rock festival at a race car track in germany.
it’s very glamorous.
ok, i can’t complain. i won’t complain.
i’m just a little bit bored, cos we don’t go on until midnight, and the day started at a very early noon o’clock. what does one do for 12 hours at a festival when one is waiting to perform?
well, one waits.
as charlie watts supposedly said, ‘90% of show business is waiting around.’ maybe i’ll go for a walk around the race track. i’ll time myself.
lap one: 39 minutes.
lap two: 41 minutes.
and so on.
i could go listen to german hip-hop and pretend to understand what they’re saying. i could make up meanings to their songs. ‘oh, this hip-hop song is about bio-dynamic farming. and that last one was about pumpkins. i’m so multi-lingual.’
or i could steal an ambulance and lead the police on a wacky ‘it’s a mad mad mad mad mad world’ style chase through nurburg.
or i could drink enough coffee to give myself a grade-a panic attack and then bury myself in the mud. see, i’m just chock-full-o-good-ideas.

i miss ‘wacky packs’.
do they still make them?
i used to collect them when i was in the 3rd grade.
‘wacky packs’ and ‘mad magazine’ made me what i happen to be today.
i hope you had a nice weekend.
