argh…
here we go again…
i live in new york city, and i’m very proud of new york city for many reasons. one of the things that makes me proud of new york city is that, for themost part, it’s a place where people can do whatever (and whomever) they want.
having said that, i fully support gay pride and gay rights, but i’m not gay. and as i’ve said many times, i wish it weren’t even an issue. i really do want to live in a world where people feel free to express their love and lust however they see fit, so long as it’s in an adult and consensual context.
and i’m sure if i’d woken up in time on sunday and gone to the gay pride events that were going on in the city that i would’ve had a wonderful time surrounded by the hundreds of thousands of people who either live here or who were visiting, but who were celebrating gay pride.
i don’t understand homophobia. i mean, the worst thing that my gay friends ever do is occasionally get a bad haircut or masturbate to some old tomof finland playing cards. homophobia is, in my opinion, wrong and completely unjustifiable. just as racism and sexism and anti-semitism are also always wrong and completely unjustifiable.
so, i’m not gay, but i love living in a city that’s full of gay pride and where gay couples can kiss on the streets.
god bless nyc (and all of the other cities where people can live benign alternative lifestyles and not feel threatened by the status quo).
thanks
