i just got back from the pro-immigration/pro-immigrant march down broadway here in nyc.
it was great, and incredibly heart warming.
koreans marching next to nigerians marching next to mexicans marching next to swedes marching next to croatians etc etc.
it was very peaceful and very friendly and very benign.
it’s amazing to watch a marginalized demographic suddenly become cogniscent of the fact that they have tons of power, and to then watch them begin to wield the power in what appears to be a positive way.
again, america is a nation of immigrants. america is improved and made great by it’s immigrants. to pretend otherwise is to deny the principles upon which this country was founded.
watching the immigrants marching made me proud to be a new yorker and an american.
