so, just a word or two about my photos…
i don’t know how to use photoshop yet, so all of the little light tricks and effects are actually done, accidentally for the most part, in camera.
i love shooting in really, really low light situations and seeing what sort of strange images show up.
one of my favourite little tricks is to do a double exposure wherein the foreground and the background are both being exposed differently. for example, you meter for the flash in the foreground and then give a longer exposure for the background, but all in the same image.
and then sometimes it’s fun to just point and shoot.
i do tend to get a little bit addicted to photography (in college i used to sit outside of the darkroom until it opened, and then i’d spend 10 hours straight just developing and printing. i have to say that although i miss the magic of watching images appear in the developing bath i don’t miss the chemicals and the constant nausea that attends lots of time spent in a darkroom).
i don’t think that i’m in any way a good photographer, but i really do enjoy it.
it’s a perfect hobby for a dilletante such as myself.
