politics…
republicans:
bolton: gone
wolfowitz: gone
frist: gone
delay: gone
rumsfeld: gone
hastert: gone
ashcroft: gone
and so on and so on.
the republicans have lost it. really, really lost it.
hopefully they’ll reinvent themselves in a more sensible, moderate way.
and hopefully they’ll reinvent themselves in a way wherein they’re not completely beholden to insane southern baptists who believe that harry potter is the devil and that stem-cell research is akin to genocide.
a republican party completely beholden to the southern, evangelical wing will become increasingly isolated and powerless as time passes.
you can already see it, demographically, that the republican power base is shrinking.
the west, apart from idaho and utah, is becoming increasingly more democratic and less republican.
it’s not inconceivable that the republican party could eventually become a permanent minority party, with a power base centered around the old south, excluding florida and virginia and tenesse(as virginia and tenesse become increasingly progressive and high-tech).
this would be bad, as the u.s functions best when the two parties are forced to work together and moderate their extremist tendencies.
ok, now non-politics:
and an old refrain: family guy.
i know, i know, i’ve said it before, i’ll say it again, it’s the best thing on television.
and it’s interesting that it’s basically becoming the stewie/brian/peter/lois show.
chris and meg barely show up anymore.
but it really is fantastic, unspeakably fantastic.
the simpsons are still good, but family guy makes me proud to be an american…
i know, i sound like a pre-adolescent, waxing rhapsodic about cartoons. but family guy stuns me in how great it can be.
that’s it for now.
70% politics. 30% cartoons. that’s kind of how my brain is apportioned.
