oh dear god…
televangelist pat robertson has called for the assasination of venezuelan president hugo chavez.
if anyone from venezuela is reading my update please be aware of the following: pat robertson is a blithering idiot and most intelligent americans are deeply, profoundly embarrassed of him.
i mean, what the hell?
a christian leader calling for someone’s death?
i guess the ‘thou shalt not kill’ part of his bible got smudged when it was being printed and he didn’t see the ‘not’ part of that commandment?
if i could argue for the existence of the devil’s handiwork in contemporary christianity i would point to pat robertson.
and unless i’m mistaken he also said that 9-11 was brought about by homosexuality and feminism in new york city.
pat robertson is emblematic of everything that’s wrong with right-wing christianity in the united states.
and after george bush’s re-election pat robertson said that george bush was re-elected because he stood for ‘christian values, like a strong military, etc’.
where in the new testament does christ talk about the virtues of a strong military?
christ said ‘blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of god’, and i don’t think that he was being orwellian, as many in the bush administration choose to be.
seriously, can’t we just re-establish the mason-dixon line?
i don’t know much about hugo chavez, so i don’t have an opinion regarding him, but i do know that there’s something deeply wrong in a supposedly christian leader calling for the assasination of the leader of a sovereign state.
