Journal / Nostalgic Moment

i just went to go see ’24 hour party people’ again, and i still love it.
this was my first time seeing it with an american audience. i had been concerned that the humour wouldn’t go over well with an audience outside of the uk, but the audience at the sunshine theater seemed to laugh a lot. so that’s good. it’s a great movie.
and it makes me happy that it’s drawing attention to joy division. the joy division songs in the movie still sound phenomenal. and it’s worth noting that before ‘a certain ratio’ became a weird jazz-funk band they were actually quite stunning. ‘do the du’ is one of the best singles that factory ever released.
i’m such a factory trainspotter. i even have my 12″” of ‘freaky dancing’ by the mondays. and my 7″” of ‘temptation’.
and, oh, my floppy disk of ‘komakino’. is that rare?

if you get the chance to see ’24 party people’, please do.
it’s too bad that magazine weren’t on factory. uh oh, i’m getting nostalgic.
magazines ‘play’ (notice the, uh, similar title? i never claimed to be original…) is an amazing record. ‘song from under the floorboards’, ‘permafrost’, etc.

and while i’m being nostalgic, if you don’t own ‘marquee moon’ by television you are missing out on one of the best albums ever made.
ok, i’ll stop now.
