Journal / New York City For Christmas

almost everyone i know is leaving nyc for the holidays.
which doesn’t make sense to me.
airports/bus-stations/train-stations/etc-stations are awful and crowded around this time of year.
and winter in new york is still charming, it hasn’t yet taken on it’s patina of sludge and slush.
so why would people want to leave nyc for christmas?
maybe it’s because i’ve spent the last 6 years living in airports, but at this point in my life i have to say that the idea of going to an airport for fun just doesn’t make sense to me.
maybe i’m just being cranky.
so ok, i’ll stop being cranky.
i hope that everyone who leaves nyc for christmas/channukah/chwanza ends up having a wonderful, sun-drenched time.
i love nyc at christmas cos it’s quiet and beautiful. personally i couldn’t imagine wanting to spend christmas anywhere other than here in nyc, at home, with friends and tofurkey.
i’m drinking my ‘stay healthy and boost your immune system and burn everything out of your throat’ drink of ginger, garlic, & cayenne.
boy, it’s rough, especially the last cayenne-saturated swallow.
ok, talk to you soon.
