Journal / New Mayor

so i guess that the votes have been counted and now nyc has a new mayor. interesting. i can’t think of much else to say. interesting.
i can’t have too strong an opinion about michael bloomberg, cos he’s never held public office before. he doesn’t have a political record, so no one really knows what sort of mayor he’ll be.
we’ll see.

and now the question is what street/bridge/airport/etc is going to be named after giuliani? any guesses? it’ll probably be something big. yup. one thing that i love about the american political process is the tradition of the loser giving a graceful concession speech. really. it always warms me inside when i hear the loser in a political contest give a gracious and supportive concession speech. even if the two contestants have had a knock down, drag out, mud slinging campaign, the loser still almost always manages to give a nice and gracious concession speech. which is good. and i’m always pleased at the peaceful transference of political power. throughout history there certainly hasn’t been much precedent for peaceful political transition. so whenever a country manages to have a peaceful political transition it makes me kind of happy.
and i’m sleepy.
it’s 4 a.m.
goodnight,
