Journal / Musical Editorializing

hey,
i heard that kroq in l.a is having a big outdoor concert with interpol and the cure and etc and none of the ‘cookie-monster/rape-rock/can’t-tell-them-apart/nu-metal’ bands.
is that true?
is this the death knell for all of those angry white nu metal bands that are kind of indestinguishable from each other? that is/was a trend that has gone on for way too long.
there was something kind of interesting about the nu-metal scene when it rose to popularity many years ago with korn and tool and etc. but for the last few years it’s just seemed like angrywhiteguy after angrywhiteguy after angrywhiteguy ad infinitum etc.
i like some of the heavy/hard bands. queens of the stone age are great. staind have some good songs. system of a down are terrific. and some others, too. but so much of it just seems so formulaic and reactionary and pedestrian. so if it’s on it’s last legs, good. it’s time for a change. and if it means that some of these modern-rock stations are going to stop playing rape-rock and start playing interpol and the cure and the yeah yeah yeah’s and so on and etc, well then i might actually turn on my radio every once in a while.
ok, that’s all of my musical editorializing for today.
thanks
