ok, moby (uh, that’s me) songs for special occasions.
1-weddings-difficult…’porcelain’ is too pessimistic. ‘when it’s cold i’d like to die’ is, well, too depressing (although lovely, if i do sayso myself). ‘jam for the ladies’? hot and sexy and gynocentric? actually i would choose ‘im not worried at all’ or ‘find my baby’. your choice.
2-birthdays-‘feeling so real’. no choice. maybe ‘next is the e’.
3-funerals. pretty much anything, depending upon personal choice…
personally i would go for ‘god moving over the face of the waters’. but ‘porcelain’ has that creepy, prescient quality to it. and it’s pretty. ‘everloving’ would work. and ‘one of these mornings’ would make people very upset and concerned, which might not be bad.
4-bar or bat mitzvahs. my rare version of ‘havah nagilah’. very popular in the hasidim/lubavitcher underground.
5-graduations. ‘we are all made of stars’. cliched but effective for graduations.
i hope this has been helpful. obviously my tastes are somewhat biased and skewed, as they’re my songs. oh, breakups…’in this world’, ‘porcelain’, ‘when it’s cold i’d like to die’, ‘why does my heart feel so bad’, ‘natural blues’, ‘one of these mornings’, ‘face it’, and so on.
thanks.
