no one in the bush camp is talking about a missile shield to protect us against hordes of missiles. they’re talking about a missile shield to protect us against missiles from ‘rogue states’, i.e-north korea, myanmar, and all of those other powerhouses. the missile shield technology doesn’t work. it doesn’t even work against our own missiles during infantile phase-1 tests.
it is very clear that george bush supports the missile shield because:
a-he’s not the sharpest tool in the shed
b-his pals stand to make a lot of money (hundreds of billions) from it
c-the people who think for him have said that it’s a good thing
back to the ‘who are we protecting ourselves from?’ question…iraq, north korea, etc.
here’s a thought: making a nuclear weapon, however prestigious, is very expensive and difficult. making a bio-weapon, however un-prestigious, is cheap and easy. and in many ways more effective. if north korea launched a nuke (difficult) at the u.s we would turn north korea into a smoldering wasteland. if north korea somehow slipped some anthrax into the states (easy) we would be pained to prove that they had done it. and we would be, with our inoperative and absurdly expensive missile shield, powerless to protect ourselves.
ok, enough on this subject, let’s get back to patio furniture… i like patio furniture.
