last night we had our first ‘jonathan ames and moby variety show’, which was fun. a bit messy and chaotic, but fun.
i’m not saying ‘messy and chaotic’ as if those are bad things.
the mess and the chaos kind of contributed to the character of the night in positive ways.
we’re doing the show again tonight, so hopefully i’ll see some of you there.

Journal / Last Night
hi,
i was just told that some people were waiting by the buses last night in las vegas to say hello and get things signed. i apologize for not coming out and saying hello, but we ended up staying over in the hotel and, thus, didn’t need to go to the buses.
i’m sorry, had i known that you guys were out there i would’ve come out and said hi.

Journal / Last Night
last night we performed on the jools holland show and one of the guests was dave brubeck.
holy cow.
dave brubeck.
i’ve never been a huge jazz afficionado, but i do have great respect for many of the legends of jazz. and dave brubeck is a legend of the jazz world.
i’m proud to have met him, and very happy to have had the chance to sit and watch him play piano.
did i ever mention that i met miles davis? right before he died.
he was friends with a japanese friend of mine, and he came to a soundcheck that i did at the limelight in nyc in 1991 (i think). it was one of the strangest moments of my professional life.
one minute i’m setting up my keyboards to perform at a rave, and the next minute there’s miles davis.
standing there quietly, just watching.
