ok, 4:30 in the a.m.
en route from virginia to pittsburgh.
now call me a cliche, but scott (drummer, born everywhere) and i were just sitting in the front lounge of the bus listening to the doors’ ‘l.a woman’ and watching the highway lights go by.
i’m sure it’s not the first time that musicians on tour have listened to ‘l.a woman’ while watching the roadside lights go by, but it was nice nonetheless.
and call me a cliche for the second time in this update, but it’s my opinion that ‘l.a woman’ is one of the finest songs ever recorded.
to make a remarkable, 8 minute long song, out of 2 chords is really a very special feat.
and, actually, 90% of the song is based around one chord. a. the humble a chord.
i love ‘l.a woman’. mea culpa. probably for the same reasons that i love l.a.
it’s fucked up and glamorous and dirty and substantial and shallow and fascinating.
i do love l.a. don’t hate me for it. i know that most peole loathe l.a. not i. i have a strange and deep love for l.a. ok, i should go to sleep. we have an 8 hour drive. so that’s 8 hours of me bouncing around in my bus-bunk while we traverse crappy highways. if i’m lucky i’ll sleep for an hour or two. the rest of the time will consist of me being bounced around while wondering why i’m not sleeping.
yes, sounds like fun.
goodnight.
