Journal / L.A

sunday morning here in l.a and i just went for a really long walk. i’m staying at a hotel on the sunset strip, so i went for a long walk up into the hills. one of the things that’s so strange about l.a is that you can be in the middle of downtown one minute, and then travel 1/2 a mile and you’re in what is ostensibly the country.
very odd. i have friends who live in l.a who have coyotes in their backyard, but yet they live 2 minutes away from downtown. what a strange city. and i have no idea how they build those giant houses on the sides of cliffs. and how do they build swimming pools that are basically supported by nothing? water is heavy. i’m surprised more swimming pools don’t end up careening down the hollywood hills, carried by the weight of their water.
flying out here was my first time on a plane since september 11th, (uh oh, did already write about this? am i being redundant?) and it was fine. i didn’t feel nervous at all, but i was pretty amazed to see military personnel patrolling the airport with m-16’s. boy, those m-16’s sure are big. big guns. apart from the armed military presence everything else in the airport seemed pretty normal.
ok, time to go and lose 3 awards at the vh-1 show.
