just working on music, trying to figure out whether the next record should be:
a all acoustic and orchestral or
b a hybrid of acoustic, orchestral, and electronic
i have to say, the idea of making a record that is exclusively acoustic and orchestral appeals to me, as it’s a completely different way of working. but if it’s an acoustic and orchestral album i think it’ll end up being REALLY slow and melodic and melancholy.
it’s been really interesting working in big, old, traditional studios. and thus far i’ve set myself the rule that: every thing on the record so far has to be recorded with a microphone. in other words: no synths, no drum machines, no samples, no electronics. i love synths and drum machines and samples and electronics, but it’s interesting working without them. who knows, maybe they’ll come back into the process at some point.
in the meantime some grey and foreboding pictures. nyc in the snow an amazing statue in new jersey seen from the train more nyc in the snow.
