umm…i’ve received quite a lot of emails recently, negative ones obviously, stating that i’ve been ripping off jason spaceman.
i admit that i’ve borrowed ideas from a lot of people in my life, but as much as i like spiritualized and spacemen3, i’ve never borrowed any ideas from them.
i have nothing but respect for spiritualized, but as far as i know i’ve never ‘ripped anything off’ of them.
in fact, in all honesty i’m a bit confused as to how anyone could think that my music sounds like spiritualized or spacemen3.
i have this bootleg tape of a spiritualized show called ‘fucked up inside’ that i absolutely love. but i would have to put it in the huge category of music that i love that i’ve never tried to emulate.
i’m happy to admit to my influences – roxy music, david bowie, smith and mighty, etc.
so could someone explain to me just how i’ve ‘ripped off’ spiritualized? cos as i said, as much as i love spiritualized, i don’t see how my music sounds like spiritualized or spacemen3, as much as i like both of those bands.
