it amazes me that i live in a city of 15,000,000 people but that on a daily basis i see more weird animals than i do actual people (i’m not sure if this is either a good or bad thing for my mental health…)

so, here are some pictures i’ve taken in the last week or so of some of the oddball creatures who live around my house (literally, all of these pictures were taken within about 100 feet of my front door. if i looked harder i could probably find even more oddball creatures to take pictures of).

oh, and i’m guessing that if i were cooler i’d be taking pictures of strippers. but i’m not very cool, so i take pictures of lizards and bugs. although there’s a rattlesnake picture here, and based on traditiona rock and roll mythology and iconography it seems as if rattlesnakes are kind of cool. so maybe i get tiny tangential cool points for getting up close and taking a picture of a rattlesnake? well, no, probably not.

oh, almost all pictures were taken with a 70-300mm lens, usually at a pretty fast shutter speed (like the hummingbirds, you can’t really take a picture of a hummingbird in flight with less than 1/1500th of a second shutter speed).

thanks,
